SERIAN: The 17th Malaysian Red Crescent Sarawak Convention 2018 and Volunteers’ Recognition Night was organised by the MRC Serian District on Aug 18 and 19 at Balu Tayung Langui, Kpg Pichin, in this district. The Convention Theme was ‘Looking into the Future’.
The Volunteers’ Recognition Night programme commenced with the arrival of MRC Sarawak Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Dr. George Chan Hong Nam and the Minister for Education, Science and Technological Research, Dato Sri Michael Manyin ak Jawong, as well as other guests. After the welcoming speech by the Chairman of MRC Serian, Dr. Kiu Chiong Chin, Dr. Chan and Manyin also addressed the function. The guests were entertained with cultural dances.
It was announced that the hosting District of MRC Sarawak Convention and Volunteers’ Recognition Night 2019 will be the MRC Sibu District. Among the 56 MRC National Recognition Awards awarded during the Night were 2 Distinguished Services Medal (from Sibu ), 5 Excellent Service Medal (2 Sibu , 2 Serian, 1 Miri), 4 Meritorious Service Medal (4 Serian), 6 Meritorious Service Youth (3 Serian, 2 Sibu ,1 Miri) and 39 Long Service Medal (24 Miri, 8 Sibu ,4 Serian, 2 Lundu, 1 Stampin) .
The 13 MRC Serian District recipients of the various National awards were Joseph Then Ah Nyuk, Patrick Ak Mawong, Leong Pit Wee, Lai Chau Liong (2 awards), Ahmad Mudzaffar Bin Yusuf, Titus Ak James, Ievachrista Ak Jimmy, Scholastica Ignatius, Marione Jona Ak Bujang, Joseph Ak Payun, Cherilyn Vong Chiew Lin and Damien Mpulop.
Among the 39 MRC State Recognition Awards awarded during the Night were 3 Platinum Awards (Miri 2, Serian 1), 5 Gold Awards (Serian 2, 1 each Miri, Sibu, Kuching) , 6 Silver Awards (Serian 3, Stampin 2, Miri 1), 15 Bronze Awards (Officer) (Miri 6, Serian 5, 1 each: Sibu, Stampin, Sarikei, Kuching) and 23 Bronze Awards (Youth) (Stampin 5, Sibu 5, Sarikei 4, Serian 4, Kuching 4, Miri 1).
The 15 MRC Serian District recipients of the various State awards were Phang Nyuk Lan, Simon Mpulop, Ahmad Mudzaffar Bin Yusuf, Leong Pit Wee, Lai Chau Liong, Sylvester Ak Chabok, Julian Lejau Kebing, Patricia Ak Albert, Rojim Ak Wilson Banyui, Zainal Anak Limbi, Titus Ak James, Aron Arthur ak Stanley John, Jimmy Phang Chien Chan, Elton ak Iling and Marian Marcella ak Garlin.
