Mukah’s cooperative KODELT earns pre-tax profit of RM380k

MUKAH: A village cooperative, Koperasi Desa Lestari Tellian Tengah and Ulu Mukah Berhad (KODELT) recorded a pre-tax net profit of RM380,303 for its fiscal year ended 30 September 2016.

It indicated an increase of over 2000 per cent as the previous year the cooperative only managed to earn a profit of RM18,215.

According to the report and financial statement being audited at the end of September last year, the profit obtained from the income of RM2,066,265 against the expenditure of  RM1,685,962.

The income  were said to be  from the transportation activity which recorded RM1,336,877, others RM66,267 and general income, RM663,121.

It also pointed that the expenditure for transportation was RM874,070, other activities, RM29,041, and general expenses, RM782,851.

The financial status was tabled by KODELT Treasurer, Frederick Lamhai Likit at its 3rd Annual General Meeting held at the Multi-purpose hall of Kampung Seri Tellian, here, recently.

It is learnt that the core activity of the cooperative which had in operation about four years ago was the provider of transportation services(20 metric tonne lorry).

With  a total of 218 members as on 22 March this year,  KODELT  has eleven lorries including one lorry being equipped with a crane.

The cooperative which is the one and only of its kind in the area also comprised ten board members headed by its chairman, William Laju and a manager.

With a grant of RM4 million from Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLBW), KODELT was created by the residents of Kampung Seri Tellian and Kampung Tellian Daya, an effort to develop the village in line with the Desa Abad Ke-21 KKLBW(21st Century Village) conducted by PEMANDU (Performance Management Delivering Unit) of the Prime Minister Department.

It was also said that the cooperative had intensified their effort to register  1,000 members  to qualify for the special grant of RM1 million being offered by the ministry before this.
