SHANGHAI: Assistant Minister of E-Commerce who is also Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais who led a Sarawak delegation yesterday visited the Alibaba.com company in Hangzhou about three hours’ drive from Shanghai, China. Also joining the delegation were MATRADE members in Shanghai.

Upon arrival at Alibaba.com, Naroden and delegates were greeted and welcomed by eWTP Malaysia Division Head who is also Deputy Director of Alibaba. com International Governments’ Affairs,Yao Yao.

While at the premises the Sarawak delegation was briefed on the history of the company Alibaba. com leading to its current success. Amongst its success is the use of robots and various pioneering technologies in its operations.

These have never been used before by any company in the world. Prior to this Naroden and company also visited Shanghai’s largest fruit export and import company, Goodfarmer Holding Ltd. Shanghai.

Currently Goodfarmer Holding Ltd. Shanghai has 50 branches all over China. Goodfarmer Holding Ltd imports about 220 containers of fruits from foreign countries.

Among fruits imported by the company are 60 containers per week of pineapples from the Philippines. The aim of this visit is to attract imports of fruits from Sarawak by the Shanghai company. Naroden and company are expected to be back in the state this weekend.
