KUCHING: In this New Year, it is hoped that there will be less political nonsense and clumsiness among politicians and high-level leaders on both sides.

Chief Minister’s Office (Corporate Affairs) Assistant Minister Abdullah Saidol, said that people’s expectation are reasonable, that is, they want to be assured that the nation is led and administered by leaders who know what they are doing and manage this country brilliantly.

There are six most desired improvements required by the people for 2019. Firstly, the people want to see leaders manage the economy prudently as a way to lessen their (the rakyat’s) socio-economic burden.

“Next, people want the leaders to strengthen unity in this multiracial society. This is because chaos and public disorder do not give benefit to anybody, he said.

Thirdly, he said law and order must be intact and capable of strengthening the people as the masses want to feel safe when they go out or when they stay at home.

“Fourthly, there must be serious commitments to building the best quality education system and infrastructure, so that the state can produce well-educated and morally conscious future generation,” he pointed out.

He then said fifthly that there also should be stronger unyielding integrity amongst those

holding power, authority and

fiduciary obligations in order to have efficient public administration.

“Last but not least is the continuous development of rural areas so as to narrow the disparities between rural and urban.

“Just like in the song ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, that may sound like a wish of a dreamer but I believe I’m not the only one,” he said.
