KUCHING: The ‘Ops Catut 4.0’ launched since May 24 saw 183 cases recorded throughout the state up to yesterday, with a seizure value of RM324,016 and compounds totalling RM20,000.

A total of 22,834 premises were inspected to ensure that they complied with instructions from the ministry to implement the zero-rated GST.

The figures were released by the State Director of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK), Dato Stanley Tan at a press conference held after doing an Ops Catut inspection at Everrise Hypermarket, Viva City Megamall here, yesterday.

“A total of 19,751 premises in urban areas and 3,083 premises in the rural areas had undergone the inspection.

“We have assigned more than 200 enforcement officers for this operation. With limited number of officers on the ground, we encourage the public to become our eyes and ears for this matter,” he said.

Tan added that the cases included offences under KPDNKK act such as Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2016, Control of Supplies Act, Weight and Measures Act, Trade Description Act, and Consumer Protection Act.

Regarding the zero-rated GST, he encouraged the public to make official reports at e-aduan@kpdnkk.gov.my or to call their operation room at 082-466052, from 8am to 10pm daily.

“We also would like to remind the public to stop making fake GST reports on the social media. We had taken action but after making investigations, we found that some of the product codes were fake, thus wasting our time. It would be much better for the public to make the official report through the platform given,” he said.

Speaking on the livestock supply in conjunction with the upcoming Raya festival, he affirmed that it is sufficient for consumers.

“If there is report of any insufficient livestock, we will try to get them from existing resouces for the convenient of consumers during the festive season,” he pointed out.

Also present were the Assistant Director of Customs (GST Enforcement), Spree Hj Awang Morshidi, State PKDNKK Deputy Director, Md Nawawi Abdul Rahman, and the Branch Manager of Everrise Supermarket Vivacity Megamall, Jessie Hee.
