Ops Serkap nets 18 illegal immigrants

KUCHING: A total of 18 illegal immigrants (PATI) were arrested in an operation by the Royal Malaysia Armed Forces during their Ops Serkap yesterday.

In the 3am operation, the 18 illegal immigrants were caught when found having entered 2.5 kilometre into the Sarawak region without valid travel document.

Upon inspection, only four of them were with Indonesian identification card swhile the 14 others were without any identification document. The army personnel also seized 16 motorcycles and 13 units of 14kg gas cylinders with a total weight of 182 kg.

All the confiscated items and the illegals were brought to the Serian disctrict police station for further process.  The Ops Serkap was implemented in the border of Kalimantan and Sarawak, near Kampung Tong Nibong, in Balai Ringin.
