Over 1,300 graduates receive ILKKM certs

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 1,310 graduates from Malaysian Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) received their scroll during the 2018 ILKKM Convocation Ceremony for Sarawak Zone at the DeTAR Putra (Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) here yesterday.

The recipients comprised 103 Specific Course graduates, 121 Assistant Certificates graduates, and 1,086 diploma graduates.

The convocation ceremony was graced by the Secretary General of Health Ministry Secretary General, Dato’ Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min.

“Congratulations to all graduates for completing their studies successfully. An appreciation is also given to parents, lecturers and ILKKM Sarawak zone officers for their contributions in making today a dream come true for the graduates,

“With the theme of ‘Menjulang Harapan Kesihatan Negara’, it is the ambition and hope for the graduates to utilise their knowledge and expertise to serve with success,” said Dr Chen during the convocation ceremony.

He also urged graduates to gain more knowledge in the medical field to cope with the new challenges and issues related to diseases.

“The health system is always facing issues and challenges related to the change of demographic profile, contagious diseases and diseases related to lifestyles.

“These issues cause a high demand towards quality health care and become a challenge to ensure the treatment given is on par with technological development and latest health treatment,” he added.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that the Public Health Department will continue to improve their services through the Health Ministry especially in rural and coastal area.

Dr Chen also presented the Best Student Award to 16 graduates from their respective fields in diploma, specific course and assistant certificates.

Also present were Division Secretary of LKKM Management Department, Dr Zainal Abidin Sait, Deputy Division Secretary of LKKM Management Department, Mohamad Yatim Nawawi, Director of Sarawak Health Department, Dr Jamilah Hashim, and Director of ILKKM Kuching, Hawa Ragi.
