KUCHING: Over 30 booths participated in the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) first Home & Property Roadshow 2018 this weekend at the Boulevard Shopping Mall.

It is notable to know that this roadshow is featuring a number of affordable housing choices including apartments priced at RM70,000 onwards by a reputable public listed developer in Kuala Lumpur and RM235,000 onwards for single storey terrace houses in Kuching by local developers.

Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, Dr Annuar Rapaee who inaugurated the roadshow yesterday said there were a lot of factors resulting in the increasing prices of houses like the increase of labour cost, higher material cost and availability of land in the city that is more expensive.

“Another factor that is very important is the interest rates. These factors cause the increase in the house prices. However, the government together with the bank is playing their roles to reduce the prices so that they will become more affordable.

“It is advisable for our people especially the young ones to get their house as early as possible so that the duration of your loans is longer and your instalment payments will be less,” he pointed out at a press conference after officiating the roadshow.

Visitors will also be able to check their personal credit rating through Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) which is available at the Debt Management and Counselling Agency (AKPK) booth on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

AKPK is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) which was set up to proactively ensure the resilience of households by providing an avenue for individual borrowers and potential borrowers to seek advice and assistance in managing their finances and debts.

Potential buyers during the three-day roadshow will get a chance to win electrical appliances in the ‘Buy & Win’ Lucky Draw.

The grand prize winner will walk away with a 43” Panasonic Full HD LED television.

The event also witnessed the launching of the first edition of SHEDA Kuching Branch Handbook 2018 that provides information about the SHEDA’s formation, highlights of activities events and study trips as well as an extract of the main roles of the relevant ministries, departments, local councils, state agencies and others pertaining to housing industry.
