Over 3,400 participants in charity run

SIBU: A total of 3,441 people took part in the ‘Love Run For Autism 1.0’ held at Sibu Town Square here, yesterday.

The inaugural event organised by Sibu Autism Association (SAA) was divided into three categories, namely 2-km run, 5-km run and 10-km run.

According to SAA chairman, Thomas Ling, the purpose of the event was to raise public awareness on autism and to support parents with autism children.

“This is the first time that we organise such event and I am very happy to note that the event receives overwhelming response from the public,” he told reporters.

He added that the charity run also received support from volunteers led by Loh Yu Yee and assisted by Malaysia Community Policing Association of Sibu and RELA Community Service Centre, Permai here.

The event also received participants from Taiwan, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and throughout the state.
