KUCHING: More than 600 delegates from over 100 countries are gathered for three days (from last Wednesday until today) for the International Summit For Peace held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

During the Opening Keynote ceremony, MSNBC journalist and news anchor, Richard Lui told that peace could be achieved in many ways and that it would take many forms.

He disclosed that peace is not only the effort of preventing war or terrorism of extremists but also about equality, poverty, health and much more.

To this, he pointed out that he is passionate in achieving peace on gender equalities.

“There are 17 parts to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the work or life of an individual or an organisation.

“Hence the goal that I chose is what I am passionate about. It is important that an individual or an organisation to select their goals to fight their way in achieving peace,” said Lui.

The Asian-American journalist also shared many stories of his working experience in the journalism world such as human trafficking that has led him to discover that such crime often leads to crimes such as sex trafficking and slavery.

“Gender equality is just one part of the SDG and there are many more to choose from, depending on yor passion.

“Every little move counts. Every step that is taken towards achieving peace counts even though it is hard. Self-preservation and knowledge is key to achieving this.

“Also bear in mind, peace fighters seek one thing and that one thing is simply the truth,” said Lui.
