SONG: In conjunction with his visit to Song District recently, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong  viewedthe progress of work on  Jalan Song/Sungai Yong (Section C-/3) Phase 3 under Package 1 and Package 2 of the road development projects.

Accompanying Belayong on the site visit were the Deputy Resident, Galong Luang, Bukit Mabong District Officer, Douglas Pungga, Song District Officer, Jackline August, Divisional Engineer of the Public Works Department, Anding Uchi, Secretary of Kapit District Council, Jabang Juntan, Youth and Sports Officer, Kapit, Jack Janda Pioh, Assistant Director of the Welfare Department, Kapit, Peter Gabong, Education Officer, Song, Duncan Luta and several other heads and representatives from  various government agencies.

At the site near the Katibas Bridge, Belayong and his entourage were briefed on the progress of the road development project. The first briefing was conducted by the project manager of Package 1.  It is learnt that the project is now 91 percent completed.

Package 1 of the Jalan Song/Sungai Yong project, which covers a distance of 5.47 kms,  includes the Katibas Bridge,  expected to be completed soon.

Meanwhile, the briefing on Package 2 of Jalan Song/Sungai Yong project that covered a distance of 12.1 kms was conducted by  project manager,  Lee Kah Pang.

The road development project that is of R3 Standard Tar Seal Road including drainage and culverts works has two bridges, namely, the 120m long Sungai Lajan Besar Bridge and the 120m long Sungai Sebatu Bridge, currently 75 percent completed. The construction of the RM119.8 million Package 2 of the road development project began on 16 December, 2014 and is expected to be completed by 15 December this year.

Belayong was happy to note  the smooth progress of work on   the road development projects.

Earlier in the morning, Belayong and various heads of government agencies had attended the Divisional Development Committee (DDC) meeting.

Also present  at the meeting were the Deputy Minister for Rural and Regional Development and Kapit Member of Parliament, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Katibas State Assemblyman, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan, Bukit Goram State Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat and Kapit District Officer, Elvis Didit.
