Patriotic gathering at Sibu Town square on 22 July

KUCHING: The Samarahan Foochow Association will hold a patriotic gathering at Sibu Town square on 22 July at 9.30 am.

In a press conference here yesterday, chairman of the
association Hu Kii Hing said 22 July which has been declared a public holiday by the late Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem should be celebrated grandly by Sarawakians to show “our pride in our state.”

He said this is to educate the future generation to love the state and country and the Federal government that Sarawak is an united and harmony state.

Hu said by organsing such event, it is also to show the successes of Sarawakians and set a good example for other associations to follow suit to organise such function in future.

“This will be a historical moment for us Samarahan Foochow Association. Even though we are a small association, we want to contribute towards nation-building by getting all Sarawakians together and to remind to continue the harmony we have enjoyed living together with all races and religion,” he added.

Urging all Sarawakians to unite to celebrate 22 July 22 as a success story of Sarawak, Hu hoped to bring over 1,000 people to Sibu for the celebration. He also called on Sarawakians from all walks of life to join the Sibu celebration.
