BELAGA: The Murum Branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) held its triennial delegates’ conference (TDC) at the multipurpose hall of Sg Asap, Koyan here last Monday. The event was officiated by Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Michael Mujah Lihan. Among the distinguished guests were political secretaries to the Chief Minister Kennel Jeraie and Jenny Bangga.
In his speech, Mujah told the delegates to follow the footsteps of the seniors who always give priority to party unity. “Pemanca Umek Jeno has been in the party for more than 30 years. Because of his experience, we never experienced any disunity crisis in the party,” he said. Mujah informed that PBB Murum Branch now has 17 subbranches with a total membership of 2,700.
Monday was also a historic event as this was the first time the Penan delegates, led by Penghulu Luhat Ayub were present at the delegates’ conference. Pemanca Umek who also spoke at the event said, “As party members, we must know our rights and responsibilities.
We must subject ourselves to party discipline, respect the leaders and follow orders. “During meetings like today, we have every right to express our opinions and elect the committee members of our choice. “As party members, we must be clear in our directions and not allow ourselves to succumb to the politics of hatred and suspicion.
“We must always be humble in our approach though our party is the ruling party. We must also be able to interact and work together with other BN component parties. “Unity and harmony are the hallmarks of a successful party and we must be able to maintain this tradition among all the 17 subbranches.”Meanwhile, at the delegates’ conference the following were elected committee members for 2017-2020.
