Pekan Bintulu K1M wins Promising Award

BINTULU– The PekanBintulu 1Malaysia Community (K1M) recently received the “Anugerah Harapan (Promising Award) Anugerah Komuniti 1Malaysia Terbaik 2016” at the national-level 1Malaysia Community Award 2016.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presented the prizes to winners when officiating at the “Negaraku: 1Malaysia Community” programme at Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar in Pekan, Pahang last Sunday.

Each winning team took home grants of between RM4,000 and RM10,000 and a certificate.

The event was also attended by Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak and his deputy, Datuk Jallani Johari.

The PekanBintulu K1M, headed by its Chairman, Steven Wong Siu Ming, was formed in April 2012 with some 100 members, with its Anjung K1M located on  the second floor of Lot 7644, Medan Central Com. Centre, Jalan Tg. Kidurong near here.

K1M coordinating officer, Nur Yasmin Teo from Bintulu Information Department, disclosed that   the PekanBintulu K1M was very active.

Activities it held included futsal and basketball competitions, blood donation campaigns, organised (ceramah) talks on current issues, educational visits to the Parliament (2012) and helping the orphans at Bintulu Methodist Children Home and showing on Youtube a 18 -minute video clip   in Mandarin on youth drug addicts.

Its next agenda is to form a co-operative for its members to generate incomes for its activities and to venture into some beneficial businesses.
