Penang TYT makes work visit to DBKU

KUCHING: Penang Head of State Tun Dato’ Ser i Utama Abdul Rahman Abbas made a work visit to the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) yesterday. Arriving at the DBKU Headquarters at about 11.15am, he was welcomed by a welcoming dance from the state Culture and Arts Department.

Minister of Tour ism, Ar ts, Culture, Sports and Youth, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and DBKU Mayor, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.

The entourage first made their way to DBKU’s ‘GaleriKU’ where an exhibition of the history of some of Kuching’s landmark such as the Open Air Market, State Museum are exhibited. Afterwards, Abdul Rahman was ushered to the Cat Museum before proceeding to a briefing by the Mayor himself.

Wahap briefed on the history of DBKU and its role today as the local authority of northern Kuching especially in keeping the city clean, beautiful and safe.

He also showed few initiatives of the commission such as mitigating traffic jam during peak hours, empowering community through various programmes and much more. Also in attendance were Director of DBKU, Jumaini Haili and state Dewan Bahasa dan Pus taka (DBP) Di rector Dr. Hazami Jahari.
