MIRI: An oil palm plantation female worker died after she was crushed by a plantation tractor in Bekenu early Tuesday morning.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when confirming the incident on Wednesday, said, the deceased has been identified as a 22 year-old, Jusni.

“She was the passenger of the plantation tractor, while the driver, who was also an Indonesian, escaped unharmed in the 6.45am incident,” the police chief said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that upon approaching the crash scene, the tractor suddenly skidded before it rolled over multiple times and landed into a deep ravine.

“The tractor skidded due to the area’s uneven surface,” said Lim.

Due to the collision impact, Jusni was thrown out of the tractor before she was crushed by it.

Lim added, Jusni’s remains were taken to Miri Hospital’s mortuary.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1)of the Road Transport Act 1987.
