SIBU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is carrying out “Op Dadu” in Sibu to combat illegal gambling.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the operation which was carried out from Jan 1 to 17 this month has resulted in 10 raids.

He said during the raid, 13 people were arrested (12 men and one woman).

“The Sibu CID team has seized 17 mobile phones, RM3,759, two mobile printers and some papers containing 4D numbers, and also equipment for public lottery.

“Action will be taken against all those arrested under Section 4A (a) ARJT 1953. They have been put into lock-ups and remanded,” he said.

ACP Stanley said the charge would be made immediately after a gambling expert’s report has been obtained.

He said raids and arrests related to illegal gambling in Sibu would be intensified as it is an ongoing process.
