KUCHING: A press conference was held by the Community and Communication Development Committee to clarify misunderstandings about the Darul Hana Development Project. Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity and chairman of the committee, Dr Haji Abdul Rahman Juna idi , told a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly here yesterday that the construction of houses at the project site along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Mohammad Salahuddin (Jalan Tol) was to fulfil the housing needs of households involved in the project at Kampung Seberang Hilir.

“This project involves 12 villages along the Sarawak River, namely , Kampung Boyan, Kampung Gersik, Kampung Surabaya Ulu, Kampung Surabaya Hilir, Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu, Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Pulo Ulu, Kampung Pulo Hilir, Kampung Bintawa Ulu, Kampung Bintawa Tengah, and Kampung Bintawa Hilir.

“At the moment, the project is proceeding smoothly and according to plan, with the construction of infrastructure and utilities like roads, drainage systems and installation of water and electricity supply.

“This will be followed by Phase 1 of the construction of houses that is expected to be completed by 2020. “The development will start with three villages – Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Pulo Ulu.

“Meanwhile, the resettlement in Sungai Bedaun, which will be provided with the same infrastructure and facilities, is to accommodate the needs of the extended families,” explained Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai State Assemblyman.
