Prestigious Gold Award for Brooke Dockyard

KUCHING: Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation is the first Sarawak State Agency to win the Prestigious Gold Award under Upstream category from Shell Malaysia.

The award was presented during the 5th Shell Malaysia and Safety Award (SMSA) Gala Dinner on Tuesday night at Aloft Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Receiving the award was Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim Bin Tun Abang Haji Openg , Chairman of Brooke Dockyard on behalf of the board, management and staff of Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation.

The gold award was in recognition of Brooke Dockyard which had demonstrated its best practices and continuously monitored safety and health in their projects.

This special award is based on Brooke Dockyard safety and health performance during the execution of E6 Substructure and Topsides Fabrication Projects. 

The highest achievement was Brooke Dockyard being the first ever contractor in Malaysia entrusted to implement its own Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system to execute Safety under Mode 3 HSSE Contract Management Approach for Shell.

This allows Brooke Dockyard to execute the contract using its owned HSSE and SP system, signifying organisation’s maturity and competence with regards to safety.

Brooke Dockyard managed to execute and completed the E6 projects with HSE Excellence culture clocked 1 million accumulative manhours without Lost Time Incident (LTI), within quality and project schedule.

Early this year, Brooke Dockyard was awarded the 2017 Shell Quality Award from Sarawak Shell Bhd for its contribution in improving Quality Performance in 2017. Besides, Brooke Dockyard was also awarded a series of Safety Achievement award for Non-Lost Time Incident (LTI) for all the completed projects since 2007 under various PSC’s.

Since involving in oil and gas sector, for the past 22 years Brooke Dockyard has been acknowledged as an efficient and competitive player in the sector having successfully delivered more than 30 offshore modules and substructures with total tonnage of 37,647 metric tonnes.

Brooke Dockyard believes that with HSE System in place, it will be able to develop a positive and decent safety and healthy working culture amongst the workforce. Embracing a committed safety and health journey has assisted Brooke Dockyard to be recognised as a leading oil and gas fabrication entity in East Malaysia.

Brooke Dockyard hopes that the recognitions and achievements will inspire other organisations to demonstrate high level of best practices in safety, health and environment.
