KUCHING: A preview show for the Miss Grand Serian Sarawak 2018 was held recently where all the finalists competed for seven subsidiary titles – Miss Photogenic, Beautiful Body, Natural Beauty, Miss Congeniality, Best Evening Gown, Miss Elegant and Best Catwalk.
Fernessa Corrie from Kampung Bunga Serian won two subsidiary titles – Miss Elegant and Beautiful Body with a cash prize of RM300, Sash and Trophy from each category.
The other subsidiaries titles were won by Lydia Hyginus (Natural Beauty), Melanie De Mensko (Best Evening Dress), Edlie Nova (Best Catwalk), Rowena Jala (Miss Photogenic), Vanessa Vincent (Miss Congeniality). Each of them won a cash prize of RM300,Sash and Trophy.
The Miss Serian Grand Final will be held at Kampung Pichin, Serian on March 3.
The pageant showcases various single females from Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Penrissen, Padawan and especially Serian.
The competition is a good platform for participants to groom their personality, confidence in order to become the future ambassadors for the Serian community.
The event is set to stand distinctively based on its own unique elements – Arts, Cultural, Heritage and Tourism as a whole.
Tourists and locals alike can be entertained by the uniqueness of the Sarawakian culture. In the long term, the Miss Grand Serian Sarawak is envisioned to develop into a yearly tourism product.
The top 10 finalists are Anasuziana Bong, Edlie Nova anak Edward, Fernessa Corrie anak Siah, Jacqualine anak Ayong, Lydia anak Hyginus, Melanie De Mensko, Niafirra Riti anak Spencer, Phyntergrow Genevie Sabah anak Herryson, Rowena anak Jala and Vanessa anak Vincent Richard.
The finalists will start their beauty camp class, catwalk and public speaking training from professional instructors, coordinators and choreographers.
During the Grand Final, the winner will walk away with RM2,000 cash prize while the first and second runners-up will receive RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively.
They will also be beauty products and customised woven baskets sponsored by Chuchu Bridal Boutique, Veronica Teresa Michael, Manoy Handicraft, Mary Kay (M) Sdn Bhd and Bakolstiwedes by Bridget and Marianne.
Seven consolations will each receive RM150 cash, goodies bag and certificate of appreciation.

The sponsorship include T-shirts, accommodation, facility, decoration and evening gowns endorsed by Ministry of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak, Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.
The Final Coronation of Miss Grand Serian Sarawak will be officiated by Datuk Seri Richard Riot Anak Jaem, Minister of Human Resource Malaysia who is also Serian Member of Parliment.
The event is open to the public and entrance is free. Local artistes like Ricky El, JocyMenti AT Adau and Maya Band will perform at the Grand Final.
