Proposal for formation of Childhood Dev’t Unit soon

KUCHING: Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato’ Sri Fatimah Abdullah will propose the establishment of Childhood Development Unit during the state cabinet meeting this July.

This was announced by Fatimah after chairing the State Early Childhood Development Council (MPAKS) meeting volume two 2018 at Pullman Hotel, yesterday.

She added that the unit will be filled up with 12 officers with positions starting from the Grade 29 till Grade 54.

“With this unit, it will enable the strengthening of the childhood development department under our ministry,” she said.

On the meeting, Fatimah together with the committee members had organised the strategic plan for childhood development 2016-2020 blueprint.

“We stress on three main focuses namely, Access, Equity, and Quality. Access means having access to early education for children especially early education in Taska and Tadika,

“Equity is the equal treat to normal and disabled children to have the education equally, and quality education to support the success of access and equity for children,” she said.

Among the strategic plan is apprentice programme namely “BABA” (Bersih Akhir Bersih Akhir) which is adopted from Japan namely Soji programme.

“The programme is to educate the children with cleanliness, safety, and respect for each other. It will be implemented to 12 tadika throughout the state in four divisions namely Kuching, Miri, Mukah and Sri Aman,” she explained.

Fatimah also handed letters of appointment to 25 committee members of MPAKS for the year of 2018-2020 comprising the appointed 17 existing members and seven new members as well as Fatimah as the MPKS chairman.
