LAWAS: Another case of missing items, allegedly stolen products belonging to a vegetable vendor caused a commotion yesterday at Lawas Big Market locally known as Pasar Besar Lawas. New Sarawak Tribune/Utusan Sarawak was informed by one of the female victims who is a vegetable vendor that items at the vegetable and fish market have been missing and that such thefts have left the victims fuming.

“Thefts of items at the premises have been rampant since last year and the Lawas District Council has been informed. Now a guard has been stationed there to deter thieves. However, items are still being stolen and no thief has been caught,” she lamented.

As such the vendors at the Pasar Besar Lawas hoped alternative ways to deter theft should be deployed. These include putting a patrolling group to do rounds at the premises in view that the guard stationed there is not enough to deter thefts.

The complainant pointed out that her stolen vegetables and fruits were worth about RM150. Many of the fish, fruit and vegetable vendors did not bother to report on their losses, she said.
