Razman, Alian emerge Qari, Qariah winners

KUCHING: Razman Hj Hashim and Alian Syamimi Jamali emerged winners of Qari and Qariah respectively for Tilawah Al-Quran Kampung No.6. The prize presentation ceremony was graced by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg during the closing event of Tilawah Al-Quran Kampung No.6 and “Azan dan Iqamah” competition held at Masjid Darulhana Patingan, Kampung No.6, last Sunday night.

Razman scored the highest mark 86.66 whereas Alian obtained 84.58. Both winners bring back cash money, a package to Umrah, certificate of participation and trophy.

Respectively in second place were Abang Burhanuddin Abg Mohd Supian and Hadiah@Hamdiah Sirat, with both of them taking home cash prizes, a holiday package to Kuala Lumpur, certificate of participation and a trophy each

Meanwhile, in third place, Khalik Hj. Bujang and Noriah Hassan, also brought back cash prizes each, plus a holiday package to Sabah, certificate of participation and trophy.

The other 31 contestants in both categories also recieved consolation prizes and certificates of participation.

Meanwhile, total of 37 partook in the “Azan and Iqamah” competition in two categories namely for 7-12 years old and 13-17 years old.

Johari on his speech noted that the community must be close with the religion and involved with its related activityies.

He also pointed out that, the digital economy would also benefit religious people as today Al-Quran is also available through the Internet such as Ipad which is much convenient to bring anywhere.

“Nowadays, instead of bringing the Al Quran book, people also can search the Al Quran through Internet or search engine,

“It is much up to date and a new way for the people to practise their religion anywhere without abusing the meaning,” said Johari.

At the same time he also promised that he will assist the Masjid Darulhana Patingan pertaining to their planning to expand the mosque to cater for the increasing number of worshippers in the Muslim community.
