Recognition for Hope Place founder on World Social Workers Day 2018

KUCHING: Yesterday (Friday23 March) was World Social Workers Day.

Sarawak General Hospital social workers section organised “Sambutan Hari Kerja Sosial Sedunia 2018” Peringkat Hospital Negeri Sarawak themed ‘Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability’.

Many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and agencies were invited by SGH social workers section to receive certificates of appreciation from SGH. Hope Place Kuching was among the NGOs invited.

Others invited included Trinity Methodist Church Kuching, Purple  Lily, Sarawak Children Cancer Society (SCCS), Tusita Foundation, Rotary club, Kuching Live Care, Tze Chi Foundation, PEKEMA, SWWS ( Sarawak Women for women Society), Baitulmal, Pro-life group Kuching, Sukarelawan JKM Kuching, Anjung Singgah and many more.

Hope Place was honoiured to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Sarawak General Hospital Social Workers Department that was handed over by the department’s head Noami Anne Masilamany assisted by Dr. Kamarudin Bin Lajim the Deputy Director of Sarawak Health Department.

Hope Place has been working closely with SGH social workers pertaining to some patients such as cancer patients or tube feeding patients and disable patients. On those patients coming from poor family needing help with pampers and special milk, SGH social workers will interview the patients first, making sure they are qualified to receive help. Only upon approval by SGH social workers will Hope Place provide help for those poor patients.

Hope Place carries its aid deliveries once every three months because of the many families in its list of recipients. It currently supports more than 200 families.
