KUCHING: The Parti Peribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will not become the dividing factor for the local party or association in the State. According to Melaka Bersatu chief Mohd Redzuan Yusof, the purpose of Bersatu forming in Sarawak was to recruit new members and at the same time to continue the fight for indigenous rights.

He added that Bersatu was formed in order to save the country and Bersatu’s plight in Sarawak would provide more opportunities for the Bumiputeras of Sarawak, especially the Malay, Dayak, Orang Ulu and many others.

“We do not want to become the source of the divide among the local association and party members in the state. We only want to increase the number of Bersatu members,” said Redzuan during the Bersatu meeting held at Hilton Hotels here yesterday.

He also pointed out that if Bersatu was found to be contributing to the divides in the state, he would personally do something about it. “Our target is not to conquer Sarawak, but we must restore the State-Federal relationship,” he said.
