DALAT: The construction of RM1 million Sungai Betei Bridge in Kampung Balan here was finally completed and has been officially opened by Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah on Sunday.

According to her, the project, commenced on March 2016 and constructed by Titanium Project Management Sdn Bhd was three months behind schedule.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat Assemblywoman, in her Facebook page stated she also officiated the RM50,000 Kampung Balan Waterfront Pedestrian project on the same day.

The minister was in Kampung Balan for the Balan Regatta 2018 closing ceremony and prize presentation at the Oya River on Sunday.

Touching on the Balan Regatta, she was impressed with positive feedbacks from the locals and called upon other villages in Dalat to look for their own niche area.

“Though Balan Regatta is a village-level event, it has received a very encouraging response from the locals around this area as it helps to foster closer ties among the people as well as generating the villagers’ side income.
