KUCHING: Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya Datuk Seri Haji Fadillah Yusuf, who is also Works Minister, has allocated RM10,000 for the marching band of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gita.

This was announced by Tupong State Assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman when officiating at the school’s Parent-Teacher Association’s (PTA) annual general meeting, yesterday.

He said the allocation was aprroved as SK Gita headmaster Mohd Nassir Said had informed Fadillah that the school’s marching band’s equipment were obsolete.

“Because we are convinced that the school’s marching band can move forward and be successful in the future, Fadillah therefore had agreed to make a contribution to the band.

“We hope the allocation will help the band to participate actively and make the school proud,” said Fazzrudin.

Fazzrudin also pledged to help upgrade the school hall next year.

He said both Fadillah and himself would contribute RM3,000 to each primary school PTAs in Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency every year.

He said although the amount would not be much, the sum would help to ease the burden of PTAs to run programmes beneficial for the pupils.

“When I asked parents about what would they want for their children, most of them answered that they wanted their children to be successful in terms of academic and personality.

“Therefore to achieve this, we as parents need to carry out our responsibility by planning the right strategy. It is not an easy task because of the many challenges to be faced. Let’s not be despair but continue to guide and support our children until they achieve success,” said Fazzrudin.

Also present was the school’s PTA president Sabtuyah Hailen.
