RM114.8 mln approved for industrial parks dev’t

KUCHING: Under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) Mid-Term Review, an additional ceiling of RM114.8 million has been approved for the development of industrial parks.

These are for six new Anjung Usahawan (Mini Industrial Parks) in Lawas, Limbang, and Gedong and the increase in ceiling is also for eight existing projects in Sematan, Bau, Rantau Panjang Sibu Phase 1 and 2, Marudi, Biovalley Park, Samalaju SME Clusters, and Sibu Industrial Park.

This was said by Minister for Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan while delivering his winding-up speech during the State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday.

“The total ceiling approved for my ministry for industrial parks and Anjung Usahawan now stands at RM361.7 million under the whole of 11MP for 25 projects.

“Five projects had been completed which are Biovalley Park, Sama Jaya Extension Phase 5, Demak Laut Industrial Park Phase 2B Stage 1, Access Road at Demak Laut Industrial Park, and Tebedu Industrial Park while the rest are in various stages of implementation.

“Land acquisition is on-going for Bau, Sematan and Rantau Panjang Phase 2, Sibu and are expected to be completed by 2019,” he said.

He elaborated that physical works for three industrial parks namely Demak Laut Phase 2B Stage 2, Kapit, and Marudi are on-going and are scheduled to be completed this year; the upgrading works for Rantau Panjang Phase 1 Sibu is also expected to be completed by yearend.

“The industrial parks for Betong, Demak Laut Phase 2C, Sri Aman, and Samalaju SME Clusters are at various stages of tendering.

“The design for Sibu Industrial Park has been completed, pending funding from the federal government for implementation.

“However, the Sebuyau Mini Industrial Park project is delayed due to land dispute,” the minister said.
