RM120,000 worth of smuggled goods seized

SIBU: The 10th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) Lanang Camp here recently, confiscated smuggled goods worth RM75,000 at two locations at around 10 am and 12 noon in a house at Jalan Nibong and Jalan Belian, here, respectively. 

In the 10 am operation codenamed “Op Libas”, Commanding Officer of 10th Battalion GOF, Lanang Camp, Supt Sanudin Isa said a team led by Inspector Mohd Hafizhazman Hassan and a MACC officer raided a house at Jalan Nibong here. 

Upon arrival at the scene, Sanudin said Inspector Hafizhazman called out to the house occupants several times but received no response.

“When members of the team found out that the main gate of the house was unlocked they entered the house to inspect. It was during the inspection that they found a covered garage at the back of the house.

Inside the garage the team found 1,125 cartons of cigarette of various brands worth around RM30,000 which are believed to have been smuggled,” Sanudin reporters at a press conference held at 10th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF), Lanang Camp, here, yesterday.

In a separate operation a team also led by Inspector Mohd Hafizhazman Hassan raided an unoccupied house at Jalan Belian here at 12 noon.

“We seized 690 cartons of cigarettes of various brands and also bottles of liquor of various brands worth around RM45,000 which are also believed to have been smuggled,” he said. 

He added that a report on the two cases has been lodged at the Sibu Central Police Station.
