RM1m allocated for cleaning drains at 13 areas in Nangka

SIBU: Nangka Constituency Service Centre has allocated RM1million for cleaning covered drains at 13 locations in areas under its jurisdiction.

Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Dr Annuar Rapaee said the cleaning woks for the drains in the Nangka constituency will take about three months to complete.

The 13 locations are Jalan Kampung Datu, Jalan Kampung Hilir, Jalan Masjid, Lorong Lang, Jalan Kampung Baharu includes Lorong Bangau, Jalan Nanas, Jalan Sungai Kerbau, Jalan Alu-Alu, Lorong Isau, Jalan Kampung Nangka, Jalang Abang Barieng (includes Lorong 4 and Jalan Abang Barieng Timur), Jalan Jasmin (includes Jalan Kaka) and Jalan Bandong.

“The project only involves covered drains in the Nangka constituency and is carried out by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).”

“Currently, there are four areas that had been cleaned and yesterday, we clean the area in Jalan Nanas which is the fifth location,” he told reporters after witnessing the drains at Jalan Nanas here been cleaned yesterday.

The Nangka Assemblyman also said that drains in Jalan Nanas have not been cleaned since they were built. Meanwhile, acting municipal secretary Jong Thian Puk said only covered drains in Kampung Datu had undergone cleaning three years ago.
