KUCHING: RM23.5 million have been allocated by the Federal Government this year as fund for the survey of NCR land, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native land and Regional Development said.

The government, he said, is making effort to issue out NCR land titles under Section 6 and Section 18. “We are trying to speed up the process and take it from me that we are trying our very best to look into this effort,” he said in his speech when officiating at the launching of State Farmers Organisation (PPNS) 32nd Annual General Meeting at Grand Margherita Hotel here yesterday. According to Uggah, in Sarawak there are 1.5 million hectares of NCR land.

“We have identified 1.1 million hectares and of that 750,000 hectares have been surveyed and of the 750,000 hectares, 600,000 have been gazetted and around 30,000 hectares had been surveyed under section 18 and the process will continue. Uggah said many farmers in the rural areas still did not have land titles and if procedures have to be followed it was very difficult for them to get assistance without titles.
