RM46m Sungai Rimbas bridge 70 pct complete

PUSA: The construction of Sungai Rimbas Bridge that will increase the mobility of its population, especially in Pusa district now is in full swing and the current status is said to be more than 70 per cent complete.

According to Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, the bridge acrossing Sungai Rimbas is a symbol of development realised by the state.

“The bridge which was built with a cost of RM46 million was actually approved by the Prime Minister during his visit here before and today, it has completed more than 70 percent,” she said.

Rohani who is also Member of Parliament for Batang Lupar disclosed this to reporters after the closing ceremony of Pusa Festival 2017 held at Sungai Rimbas Waterfront near here, last Sunday.

She added that the bridge which is expected to be completed by July this year will provide convenience and benefits not only to the people in Batang Lupar parliamentary area but for all.

“After the completion of the bridge, it will become a symbol of pride to us all and I believe that not only people in Batang Lupar constituency will benefit from it, but also to those in Betong and other areas too.

The jetty looks quite crowded because water transport is still the main route to the opposite side, and also seen is Sungai Rimbas Bridge being rapidly constructed.

“It will add further convenience to the journey of road users and may also connect directly to the Pan Borneo Highway,” she said.

At the same time, Rohani also mentioned pointed out development project in the area namely the construction of Sungai Rimbas Waterfront or Dataran Tandang Sari that has become the main location of the festival.

“Pusa Festival this time is deliberately held here (Sungai Rimbas Waterfront) because we want to uplift it with a variety of activities.

“This location is pretty good if it can be arranged with recreational programmes and economic development,” she pointed out, adding the first phase of the construction involved a cost of RM500,000.

Also present at the event were Beting Maro Assemblyman Razaili Gapor and an official from Pusa District Office Bujang Budin.
