RM5 mln RTP funds distributed

SARIKEI: A total of RM5 million Rural Transformation Project (RTP) funds were distributed to implement various projects in the N.45 Repok state constituency.

The ceremony was graced by Repok State Assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii as guest-of-honour, here yesterday.

From the amount, RM235,000 will be utilised to upgrade classes blocks and other facilities in nine schools.

Meanwhile, a total of RM1,550,000 is for the upgrading of the St Anthony Church, Methodist City Church of Sarikei, Methodist Church of Nyelong Park and to build fences for  an Islamic cemetery.

At the same time, RM200,000 is for the repair of two longhouses (Rumah Bajut and Rumah Ngelai) while another RM900,000 is to upgrade the Maksak and courts building, construction of the basketball stadium and upgrading the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sarikei branch building.

In this regard, Huang said the donation proved that the state government is always concerned and sensitive to the needs of the people.

“I will continue to fight for the fate of the people,” he said, adding that there are more things to do, including the construction of a road linking Sarikei, Tanjung Manis, the resettlement of a commercial pier to the new site at Nyelong River, opening agriculture area and agriculture park,” he said.
