BELURU: The Federal Government has approved an allocation of RM66 million for the construction of water pipelines from Sg Bia Beluru to Sg Bakong.

Assistant Minister of Local Government, Datu Dr Peguang Manggil said approximately 10,000 people will benefit from the project.

Dr Peguang who is also Marudi Assemblyman added that the ground breaking ceremony to kick-off the project has been scheduled for the near future.

“This project will be implemented by the Regional and Rural Development Ministry (KKLW) under the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB).

“We hope that residents of the longhouses involved will give their full cooperation to the authorities concerned to ensure that this project can be implemented smoothly,” he told reporters after handing over flood aid to 595 recipients at Beluru Community Hall here, yesterday.

Also present was Beluru District Officer, Mohammad Rashdan Hazemi.

Dr Peguang also said that the allocation covered the same project in the Lambir constituency.
