KUCHING: Confronting adverse weather conditions and braving rough terrains, the team at CMS is proud to report that works are ahead of schedule and they anticipate the project to be completed on-time by the second quarter of 2019. As of 25th October 2018, rehabilitation of the 43.2km road connecting Miri to Marudi is almost 5% ahead of its original 30-month schedule with 87% of the road rehabilitation complete.

Speaking about the update, Goh Chii Bing, CMSB Group Chief Executive Officer – Operations, said: “We are very conscious of the road’s importance in connecting the communities of Miri and Marudi, and, as the project nears its completion, we are more determined than ever to ensure deadlines are met and that the road rehabilitation is finished on spec and on time.

Even with the rainy season now upon us, the team is determined to push on because the finish line is in sight.

“Safety of road users is our primary concern hence we continue to urge the public to adhere to the many safety signages installed along the road, especially with regards to speed limits,” Goh added.

Components of the upgrading process are already finished, with the road’s base works, cement stabilisation works and pipe culvert installations all complete. The focus now is to intensify premixing the road surface, which is about 60% completed. CMS’s next quarterly update is forecast for Q1 2019.
