KUCHING: Three main roads around Kuching Waterfront will be closed for eight days from this January 23 to 30 in conjunction with the ‘Majlis Agenda DBKU 2018’. According to Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, the roads involved are Jalan Market heading to Jalan Gambier, Jalan Lebuh Jaya / Jalan Gambier, and Jalan Main Bazaar.

He revealed this during a press conference at Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) headquarters here on Friday.

“Members of the public who pass through Jalan Gambier can use Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg as an alternative exit route,” he said. Meanwhile, he also revealed that the temporary closure of the route to Jalan Gambier / Jalan Power is to give way for the full rehearsal ceremony that will involve roadblocks in front of the Old Court House.

“This road closure will start at 7pm until the end of rehearsal on January 24 and 25,” he said, adding that the public can use Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang as an alternative exit route. At the same time, he said that the full road closure will be implemented at 2.30pm on 27 January for the officiating ceremony.
