Roads to close for Kuching Marathon tomorrow

KUCHING: Members of the public are urged to observe the closure of several roads in conjunction with the Kuching Marathon 2018 to be held in the city tomorrow. Among the roads af fected were Main Baazar Road Junction/ Wayang Street, Gambier Road/Tun Abang Haji Openg Road/Main Baazar Road, Wayang Street/Jalan Wawasan, Jalan Borneo/Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Abell up to Padungan, Jalan Padungan (from Sri Aman roundabout direction), RTM Traffic light/Jalan Satok (to Padang Merdeka), Jalan Haji Taha, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Masjid, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Cat Statue), St. Mary’s traffic light (to Wayang Street). Closure of roads will start from 1am to 8am tomorrow.

Apart from that, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Pearl, Jalan Barrack and Jalan Wawasan will be closed earlier at 11.30pm today, to make way for the marathon last minute work. Members of the public who enter the city centre are reminded to park at several suggested car parks, among them the Reservoir Park, Taman Budaya, Green Hill, Bangunan Saujana, Top Sport Car Park, Civic Centre, Polyclinic parking lot, and MBKS Jubilee Ground car park lot.

The marathon, which will be held in Padang Merdeka will involve about 10,000 local and international participants who participated in three categories namely Full Marathon (42km), Half Marathon (21km) and Fun Run (10km and 5km). Public are also advice to plan their journey time accordingly on the stated date, and follow the road signage and instruction from the traffic officer or any uniform body that is on duty, when entering the city centre.
