KUCHING: Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom described Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg has a clear vision in developing the state. He said this when asked by repor ters after attending the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) meeting yesterday at PBB headquartes on his statement about the first year of Abang Johari as Chief Minister that fell on January 13, 2018. “The new CM has actually lifted us up into another level on how we can move forward in terms of developing the state.

“The important one is on digital economy, where everything needs to be in that level and those we probably focus well on younger generation so that we will be abreast with the new development especially in new world economy,” he said.

He added the way the Chief Minister is doing on walkabout and approving many projects to be implemented this year especially on the bridges and roads, shows his planning and visions are very clear. “It is easier for us to follow. We know what we want to do in developing infrastructure to facilitate the digital economy.

“And my ministry is looking very seriously on water problems and extension of our programmes. “The way I look at him, I am confident he would be able to bring our state into a higher level and with that the rest of our cabinet colleagues also agree that we should continue to support him in MA63 because we are discussing based on facts,” he pointed out.

Rundi also said that it is also easy to negotiate with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as he is very open with the state’s proposal and discussion on MA63. “He said whatever rights for Sarawak and Sabah in MA63, he is willing to listen and must be given back to Sarawak and Sabah if it is indeed eroded based on our constitutional right,” he added.
