KUCHING: The SABERKAS GoExpo 2018 Business & Lifestyle Expo is being held at Mydin Vista Tunku in Petra Jaya here starting today until Sunday (4 February).

It is jointly organised by the Saberkas branches of Kota Sentosa and Pantai Damai.

The highlights of the three-day long event which would be open daily from 9am to 10pm include lucky draws with prizes worth RM5,000, fame international robotics performances, international exhibitors, 3,000 kids colouring contest, free health check, charity works, music and traditional performances.

The objectives of the Saberkas GoExpo 2018 are to provide a platform for small businesses to exhibit their products and services at an affordable rate, to offer the local community the opportunity to know their conditions of their basic health, and for those with serious condition to seek treatment, to increase the health literacy among the local community by providing free advice to people in need, and to cultivate the passion for art and drawing among children.

Secretary-General of Saberkas, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who is also the Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity revealed that the event would be the second time that both branches have organised. The first time was held at Mydin Bandar Baru Samariang in Petra Jaya last year.

“We hope to organise a programme like this every year and we would like other branches of Saberkas to also organise programmes of this kind that can bring the people especially the young people together,” he said at a press conference at Dormani Hotel here yesterday.

The organising chairman of the event, James Voon, who is also the chairman of Saberkas Kota Sentosa, disclosed that the highlight on the first day would be a Robotic Performance by Digital Economy Hub, the second day would be the Basic Free Health Screening (afternoon) and Music & Traditional Dance (evening) and the final day would be the Colouring Contest.

“At the moment, we have received 500 submissions and we are expecting more to come,” he said, adding that the target was at least between 1,000 and 1,500 and that there would be a total of 40 booths.
