KUCHING: Sarawak Energy awardeded 99 scholarships as part of its ongoing efforts to develop talents in the state and contribute to a competent workforce. The scholarship presentation ceremony took place at Imperial Hotel here yesterday, at which the scholarship was presented to the company’s employees as well as students. According to the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy Berhad, Sharbini Suhaili said “education and the youths are the key focus areas for the company’s social investment programmes.”

He disclosed that the allocation of some 70 percent of their scholarships was to attract talents and support their recruitment process and the remaining 30 percent, to support their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to the community and Employee Value Proposition initiatives for the staff’s children.

The Group CEO added that they give out scholarships to deserving students to further their studies because a social investment in education is a guaranteed investment in Sarawak’s future. “Internally, the scholarship is open to staff members to enhance their capabilities and further their education on a part-time basis.
