KUCHING :  Sarawak police  have viewed the video footage of a television programme in  which the hosts were alleged to be belitting the name of the late father of former national sprinter, Watson anak Nyambek.

State Criminal Investi-gation Department chief, SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar Sree Shunmugam confirmed  that the police received a report on the incident by Watson at about 10am yesterday.

“We are investigating the case under Section 504 of the Penal Code,” he said, adding that
the police will interview the hosts and producers of the programme soon.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Youth Information Chief in Marudi, Jaya Ramba wants firm action to be taken against the private TV hosts who, he said, had insulted Watson  and his family.

Jaya said he was very angry with the behaviour of the two hosts who had “such disrespect for late father of Watson”.

“As Malaysians, we should respect each other,” he said,  adding that Watson was not an ordinary person but an athlete who had contributed much to the success of athletics in the country and  was now coaching sprinters in  Sarawak.
