KUCHING: The search for Prasahant Payal, an Indian national who fell into the Sarawak River from the Hock Seng Lee Wharf here at about 6.30 pm on Wednesday continued yesterday.

Prasahant was said to be taking his bath at the back of a barge where he worked but slipped and fell into the river.

His colleague who saw the incident tried to look for him but failed. The friend then immediately contacted the police for help.

A team from the Fire and Rescue Services Department (BOMBA) was dispatched to the location to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation but was called off as it was already dark.

The SAR operation resumed yesterday morning.
