MIRI: The Search and Rescue operation (SAR) for missing fisherman, Ebrahim Yaman, 59, at Kuala Sibuti near here entered its third day yesterday.
Miri BOMBA chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said in a statement yesterday that the SAR operation which was mounted since Tuesday did not show any new lead.
On the second day (25 July) of the SAR operation the team found a pair of pants believed to belong to the missing fisherman.
“At 3pm on Wednesday, the SAR team discovered the pants within a kilometre from the scene,” said Law.
On the third day of the SAR operation more than 20 boats from nearby villages took part in the SAR operation together with Miri BOMBA, Miri Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and Miri Malaysia Civil Force(Miri APM.
The SAR operation will resume today.
On Tuesday, Ebrahim was reported missing by his relatives after he failed to return home from a fishing trip.
His worried family members then immediately lodged a police report.
Acting on the report lodged, an SAR operation was mounted.
