KUCHING: The search operation for a villager who fell into the sea while searching for crabs at Pasir Ambal, Kampung Serpan Laut in Asajaya, Samarahan, entered its fifth day yesterday.

According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) as at 5.00pm, members of the search and rescue (SAR) team had yet to find any trace of Lembong Pin.

However,  they managed to find a pair of pants belonging to the 75-year-old man.

The team of 88 comprised members of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), police, Rela, firefighters and villagers.

A total of eight boats were used in the search operation.

The operation was called off at 5.00pm and would resume the next day.

On August 15, Lembong Pin, from Kampung Serpan Laut, had gone to the sea to look for some crabs at night and he was last seen at 1.00am on August 16.

A person’s missing report was lodged later that day (August 16) after villagers found his shirt and boat at Pasir Ambal.
