According to him, the selection was conducted by the head coach, Mohd Herman Musa and assisted by a few coaches from Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) including Wilbur Andogan and Fred Mandagi.

“Most of the boxers were from several training centres across the state such as Bintulu, Tatau, Kapit, Saratok, Betong, Sri Aman, Samarahan, Asajaya, Kuching and MSNS Elite Centre,” he added.

He said it was the first phase of the boxers’ selection to be absorbed to the Sarawak Sukma shadow team in 2018, adding that most of the boxers are aged between 17 to 20 years old.

“We noted several potential boxers during the selections but they will continue to be screened until next year. Dato’ Rahman said during the selection, the boxers were tested for their ability to act through sparring with each other.

“We (SABA) will hold three more sessions with the next selection to be held after Raya.

“The main objective is to find the best boxers to represent Sarawak in the upcoming Sukma,” he said.
