KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) recently held the Love-in-a-Box programme with 40 children of Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal (PERKATA) and Kuching Autistic Association (KAA). Held at Windows on Kuching, Riverside Majestic Hotel, the programme was held to celebrate Christmas with the special children.
Present during the celebration was the SEDC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain, who said that this is the opportunity for SEDC to be part of such a meaningful endeavour especially in bringing a message of hope to all deserving people.
“All parties should together spread the spirit of sharing, giving and compassion by contributing more to the special kids because Christmas season is always a good time to share our good fortune to help the needy,” he said.
This year, the beneficiaries of Love-in-a-Box programme received gifts include school books, stationeries, school bags, educational toys and many more. Children and their escorts were then treated to a sumptuous meal specially prepared by the hotel.
In line with the festive and holiday season, the hotel turned the WoK into a hair – raising experience of glee filled with vibrant colors. Apart from that, the kids were entertained by Uncle Banana, the Christmas clown and singing performances organised by the SEDC staff.
Also present at the programme were Deputy General Manager Corporate Services Sector of SEDC, Hajah Rakayah Hamdan, Deputy General Manager Commercial Sector of SEDC, Edwin Abit, Vice President of KAA , Cynthia Jee, and Principal of PERKATA Sarawak, Dorren Tie.
