Sejiwa Senada Programme moves to Meradong, Bekenu

KUCHING: The Sejiwa Senada Programme will move to Meradong in Bintangor on April 28 and 29 and in Bekenu on May 1 and 2.

In Meradong, it will be held at the Basketball Court and in Bekenu at the Car Park of the Sibuti Rural Transformation Centre (RTC).

A press release from the State Protocol and Public Relations Unit said the Sejiwa Senada Programme was one of the initiatives of the state government to be closer to the people by going to the ground. Thus, it was   aptly themed “Government with the People”.     

Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun   Openg would officially launch the programme in the morning of April 29 in Meradong and on May 1 in Bekenu, the statement added.

Meanwhile, in the souvenir programme, the Chief Minister said he would continue to implement policies, initiatives and action plans of his predecessor, Pehin Sri Adenan Satem besides implementing new initiatives such as Digital Economy, Petros, DBOS, Agricuture Transformation plus other initiatives.

“Sarawak needs to strive to get extra income from its economic activities, especially from strategic projects,” he said.   

This, Johari said, was important to ensure that Sarawak’s economy would leapfrog to a higher level by 2030.    

The Sejiwa Senada Programme acts as a one-stop centre for the government to serve the people and the people to be involved in other activities such as sports and recreational activities.

The programme is also to enhance the feel good factor among the people so that they will be confident and aware of what the government is doing in bringing development  to uplift their socio economic and living standard.

As the programme will be held in Meradong town, it is an opportunity for the people from around Meradong, Sarikei, Julau, Pakan, Kanowit and other nearby areas to access to government services, information and advices including from  government linked companies (GLCs), non governmental organisations (NGOs) and  the private sector from the more than 50 booths available.

There will be exhibitions, sales of local products, food and drinks, stage shows and lucky draws for visitors.

The organiser is expected to offer two motorcycles, hand phones and many other electrical products as lucky draw prizes.

There will be a concert in the evening of April 28 at the same venue featuring top artistes such as Bob AF, Ricky Andrewson, Ricky El and many others with D’ Cipta band in attendance. The singers will again appear in a pre-show on Sunday morning.

The people must also try the varieties of food offered in the adjacent Sarawak Kitchen. They will be entertained by buskers as well.
