SIBU: Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian declared open the Sibu Jaya Night Market here on Friday night. He congratulated Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) for setting up the night market.
“The night market is an important component of every town. Besides being a tourist attraction, it can also improve the socio-economic status of the people.
“The uniqueness and variety of food and merchandise in the night market will attract people. Located at a strategic location and only one kilometre from Sibu Airport, it can become a new attraction in the Sibu Jaya township and Sibu town,” he said.
Sim also pointed out that the local people, especially traders at the night market, played a key role in ensuring the cleanliness and cheerfulness of the night market.
The Sibu Jaya Night Market opens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4pm until 11pm. It has 104 stalls selling food and merchandise.
