Sim, Tan Kai pay last respects to rabies victim

KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Sim Kui Hian paid his last respects to another rabies victim, the late Bong Fah Sin yesterday afternoon in Sin San Tu. Bong, aged 59, was a Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) member and Board of Director of SM Min Lit and SJK Sin San Tu Treasure.

He was tested positive for rabies on Jan 26 after being bitten by a dog on November 27.

Bong had gone to a private clinic and was not referred to a government Dr. Sim called to anyone who was bitten to go to Sarawak General Hospital immediately as the city is not declared rabies free. Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai said he recently met Bong in mid January.

Bong looked healthy and never mentioned about himself being bitten by a dog.

He said he knew Bong personally and said he was a good hard working man. Bong passed away at the SGH yesterday. He is the 7th victim to die of rabies attack.

The first case occurred during Gawai last year in Serian. So far, the Health department has been trying to vaccinate all dogs in Sarawak.
