KAPIT: One of the urban primary schools here, SK Methodist celebrated Teachers’ Day at the school’s hall yesterday morning.

The event also saw the participation of all the teachers, members of the Board of Management and pupils of the school.

In his remark at the gathering school headmaster Demang Sawing wished all teachers a very Happy Teachers’ Day. He thanked them for their dedication and commitment to serve dedicatedly to produce excellent students who are the future leaders and assets of the country.

SK Methodist is now parents’ number one choice of school to enrol their children because of the quality results (academic and cu-curricular) produced by the schoo, he said and appealed to the teachers to continue serving in their best ability to produce quality human resources.

“Don’t be satisfied with what we have achieved thus far. Our struggle to make SK Methodist parent’s number one choice hasn’t finished. It’s ongoing. Therefore, I appeal to all teachers, parents and pupils, let us work together hand-in-hand to ensure this school stay on top and that SK Methodist is the best school in the district. There isn’t any shortcut; it’s hardwork that bears fruit of success,” said Demang.

He disclosed that the school has adopted the theme of celebration ‘Back To School’ whereby during this celebration the teachers wore school uniforms to show that schooling is fun and this is to encourage the pupils to love the school.

“SK Methodist is the biggest primary school in Kapit district with 48 teachers and 766 pupils. Therefore, we must together work as a team to achieve academic excellence. Teachers of the school, pupils and parents love this school. Let us work hand-in-hand for the sake of producing quality education to educate our young,” said the school headmaster.

The celebration witnessed teachers and pupils from the school presenting various entertainment items like choir group, solo, dances and sketches.

Meanwhile another primary school here SK Sungai Amang located at 5km at Jalan Selirik had also carried out their separate Teachers’ Day celebration. Among the activities held to coincide with the celebration included an address by the school headmaster John Lang Likong, pledge/oath by the teachers, cutting of the Teachers’ Day cake and the presentation of flowers and gifts to the teachers by the students.
